Smart, Indigenous People, and DepEd Sarangani team up to educate learners from the province

The elders and culture bearers of the two IP communities met in March of this year to authenticate the tales, language, numbers, letters, colors, and images created by the authors and content developers, which would be turned into digital assets for the literacy applications.

The elders' approval of all materials to be utilized for the app, according to Biya Elizabeth A. Bitco of the Tagakaulo tribe, is vital and important to guarantee that knowledge passed on to the next generation is true and authentic.

Christopher Tanedo, the head of Wata-wanan IP School and an IPEd coordinator in West Maitum, said they changed certain content to suit the school's young audience.

Smart stated that the competencies used to build the learning materials are in line with the Department of Education and that the content's indigenization has been approved by the Provincial Tribal Council and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.

Smart is also advocating for the creation of tribe-centric learning apps in a variety of languages since studies indicate that the proper use of digital tools may improve young kids' literacy and increase their desire to study.
