Huawei: The Mate Xs 2 foldable is coming to the Philippines!

A few days back, tech giant Huawei launched the Mate Xs 2 for the global market. In a local press release, the company also confirmed that it will be available in the Philippines soon.

Huawei Mate Xs 2 is coming to the Philippines!

To recap, the Mate Xs 2 is the follow-up to the Mate Xs in 2020. 

To make the foldable design possible, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 is using a new Falcon Wing design made with ultra-light steel that is stronger than the previous generation.

When unfolded

It also allows its users in multiple positions that it users want. The device also has ultra-light glass fibers on the backplate and aerospace-grade titanium alloys to achieve a weight of just 255 grams. It also uses a 3D fiberglass design with a leather-like texture.

When unfolded, the display transforms into a large 7.8-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and 2480 x 2200 resolution.

When folded (outward folding), it transforms into a 6.5-inch big screen, the same size as regular smartphones.

Inside, the device is sadly using the older 5nm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor, not the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found on most high-end smartphones today. The other bad news is it is the 4G version of SD888 due to the US restrictions on 5G applied to Huawei.

It is also paired with 8GB RAM, 512GB expandable storage, and a 4,600mAh battery capacity with super-fast 66W charging.

For cameras, it is using the powerful 50MP f/1.8 True-Chroma Color Camera paired with a 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle and an 8MP telephoto camera with AF and OIS.

There is no word about its official local price tag yet though. In Europe where the price is usually higher versus PH SRPs, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 

Huawei said that the Mate Xs 2, Watch D, and Band 7 will arrive in the country at a later date. The exact details are yet to be revealed.
