Qualcomm outs Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with better speeds and efficiency!

Chipmaker Qualcomm today announced the revamped version of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 called Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (SM8475).
Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is official!

The new flagship chip to beat?

According to the company, the new chip now has a 10 percent improvement in CPU performance by overclocking its main Cortex-X2 core from 3.0GHz to 3.2GHz. The GPU is also 10 percent better and the AI engine now has a 20 percent better performance per Watt ratio.
More power, better efficiency?

The next improvement is with power efficiency. Qualcomm is claiming that it is now 30 percent more efficient than the original 8 Gen 1 for both the CPU and GPU.

Qualcomm claimed that its wireless modems are now more efficient as well.

In total, the new chip has a total power efficiency improvement of 15 percent.

The company claimed that with this chip, users can game for nearly 1 hour longer, enjoy an extra 80 minutes of video streaming, can do 5.5 hours more of talk time, and many more.

The rest of the specs of the chip is similar to the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that you can read here.

There is no word if they addressed the heating problems of the SD8G1 though.

But, the chip is now fabbed by TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process instead of Samsung.

The company said that the first wave of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 devices will be available in Q3 of 2022. Some of the brands that will use it are ASUS ROG, Black Shark, HONOR, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, OSOM, realme, Red Magic, Redmi, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
