Xiaomi commits to better data security and privacy

Xiaomi held training events and expert seminars at the Xiaomi Technology Park in Beijing, China, and at Xiaomi's Technology Operation Center in Singapore. It hosted specialized training sessions for its engineers and other staff members and moderated talks about the value of data security and user privacy protection with business leaders, IT security specialists, and members of the public for the third year in a row. Along with its yearly transparency report outlining its data security efforts, Xiaomi also released revised white papers on security and privacy.

Xiaomi has established a thorough governance framework to safeguard user privacy and data security. This requires collaboration between specialists in legal compliance, smartphone operating system engineering, and cybersecurity. A Security and Privacy Committee headed by senior executives are in charge of these experts.

The company stated that it is always working to enhance IoT security and privacy measures thanks to having one of the largest consumer IoT platforms in the world. On June 29 and 30, Xiaomi held its fifth annual IoT security summit in Beijing.

Industry leaders and subject matter experts covered a wide range of topics, including cross-border data transfers, data security governance frameworks, the security of internet-connected electric cars, and solutions to software supply chain security concerns.

A U.S.-based global safety research organization called Underwriter Laboratories Inc. certified Xiaomi's Electric Scooter 4 Pro at the IoT Security Rating Gold level during the June event. Electric Scooter 4 Pro became the first electric scooter in the world to receive such a high safety rating as a result of this classification. The certificate also stated that Xiaomi's IoT device development follows international standards for security.

In 2014, Xiaomi established its Security and Privacy Committee. Xiaomi was the first Chinese company to get certified by TrustArc in 2016. In 2018, Xiaomi embraced the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union. In 2019, Xiaomi's security and privacy procedures received ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27018 certifications.

The company became the first manufacturer of Android smartphones to issue a transparency report last year. This year, Xiaomi received the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Cybersecurity Framework certificate of registration, enhancing its capacity for data security protection.
