Samsung's President and Head of MX Business, Dr. TM Roh, gives a sneak peek into why this August’s Unpacked is not to be missed. According to Dr. Roh, Samsung's mission has always been to create technology that makes lives better.

In 2019, Samsung launched the first foldable smartphone. Since then, the industry followed suit with other companies also opting to create their own version of a foldable smartphone. Nearly 10 million foldable smartphones were shipped globally in the previous year. That represents a more than 300 percent increase in the industry from 2020, and Samsung believes this rapid growth will continue. The industry is at a point where foldable phones are becoming more common and asserting themselves more firmly on the broader smartphone market.

In 2021, 70 percent of Galaxy foldable customers last year used the Flip to let them perceive the world from a different perspective. Users of Flip devices like having a product designed for individual expression, whether it be through the use of bold color selections or innovative photography techniques like Flex mode.

The Fold offers a distinctive experience. Last year, almost one in three Galaxy foldable users chose this productivity tool, enabling them to do more with their phones. Users of Fold appreciate the opportunity to multitask on a screen that doubles in size, which helps them be more productive and finish tasks faster.

This year, Samsung improved every aspect of its products and unlocked the fresh experiences made possible by these technologies that change how we behave. With the new foldable, I can't wait to see how people use it to find new ways to do more of what they enjoy.

Galaxy foldable smartphones were considered gimmicky three years ago. The innovative, adaptable design, however, soon made it evident that it was the ideal fit for contemporary lifestyles. As a result, millions of people today favor what was a novelty three years ago.
