FB live selling is ending

On Monday, Meta Platforms, Inc., Facebook’s parent company, announced the social media platform’s Live Shopping function will no longer be available starting October 1.

Beginning on October 1, 2022, you will no longer be able to host any new or scheduled Live Shopping events on Facebook, the company said in a statement.

While Facebook Live may still be used for live events, sellers will not be able to create product playlists or tag products during a live.

Instead of this, Meta wants its sellers to now focus on its other feature, the Reels, which is a short-form video product.

As consumers' viewing behaviors are shifting to short-form video, we are shifting our focus to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, it said.

Meta is encouraging its users to experiment with Reels and Reels ads on both platforms mentioned to reach and engage potential customers.

Despite this, businesses can still set up Live Shopping on Instagram, it said.

To keep previous live videos, users may download these on the business’ page or in Creator Studio, the company added.

As a business depending on Facebook reach, do you think this will be helpful?
