DITO surpasses technical audit

The NTC, in a document dated September 8, said the third telco player passed the mandated technical review.

Based on an independent auditor's report, DITO reached a population coverage of 72.39 percent. On the other hand, its minimum average broadband speeds hit 71.77 Mbps and 809.19 Mbps for all 4G and 5G sites, respectively.

The figures were higher than DITO's commitments of 70.01 percent coverage and 55 Mbps broadband speed.

Reacting to the report, DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said the group had already received a notice from the regulator.

DITO expressed satisfaction with the recent advice from the NTC that it has passed the third technical audit as required in the CPCN. We continue to abide by - and even exceed - our commitments to the government to improve speed and coverage in the telco sector and bring real competition for the benefit of Filipino consumers, Tamano said.

Tamano said that DITO will remain committed to providing "world-class connectivity" to the Philippines.

Late in August, DITO said its subscriber base had already reached 12 million, four months ahead of its target date.

DITO attributed this performance to the group's aggressive network rollout with more than 5,500 cellular towers built, allowing it to increase its coverage to over 600 cities and municipalities.
