Twitter Blue relaunching

In a tweet on Saturday, the company said Twitter Blue will be relaunched on December 12. It will be USD 8 per month (around PHP 444) when subscribing on the web. But the catch, it is USD 11 per month (around PHP 611) for an iOS subscription.

We're relaunching @TwitterBlue on Monday – subscribe on web for $8/month or on iOS for $11/month to get access to subscriber-only features, including the blue checkmark 🧵,” Twitter said.

The social media company did not explain the difference in fees, but there have been reports that said Twitter was looking for ways to offset fees charged in Apple's App Store, according to Reuters.

Twitter said subscribing to this service will give users access to exclusive features, like the Edit Tweet, 1080p video uploads, reader mode, and a blue checkmark after a review account is done.

Aside from this, Twitter also said that it will start replacing the "official" label seen below an account’s name with a GOLD CHECKMARK for businesses. It will also replace the label for government and multilateral accounts with a GREY CHECKMARK.

The company said subscribers will still be able to change their Twitter handle, display name, or profile photo. They will just temporarily lose their blue checkmark but will be returned once the account review is completed.

Twitter Blue was initially launched in early November before it was halted due to the proliferation of fake accounts.

Its November 29 relaunching was also delayed "until there is high confidence of stopping impersonation," Twitter CEO Elon Musk said.
