MIUI 14 marks the 12th year of the OS. MIUI also reached 564 million global monthly active users.

Xiaomi said that the MIUI14 is now as light as ever. This covers system simplification with ultra-small firmware, memory use, reducing the number of unremovable pre-installed apps to just 8. Additionally, it improves application cleaning, saves only one copy of duplicate files, and compresses low-frequency applications. The management of notifications has also improved.

The new MIUI photon engine uses the Android kernel as its operating system and gives third-party application developers access to this functionality. The system is more fluid, its performance under heavy load has significantly improved, and the third-party apps are also smoother.

According to Xiaomi, it is working hard to improve security and privacy, and it has received the proper certification from Tell Labs in both privacy and security fields. All data processed locally on the device will not be sent to the cloud without permission.

Image and text extraction is touted to be faster and more accurate than Apple's iOS. It can also now do real-time bilingual subtitles for video conferencing and recording. Translations are also praised to be more accurate and kept confidential.

MIUI 14 also has improved UI with a richer and more personalized visual experience. It now has large, replaceable icons with 4 size options. There are also virtual pets and plants that you can add to your home screen to add life and spice to it.

In terms of connectivity, MIUI uses a new high-speed interconnection bus which increases the speed of Bluetooth discovery by 50 percent for TWS earphones, 12 percent for TVs, and 77 percent for video streaming. Xiaomi also touts MIUI 14 as a human-centered OS which means it pays attention to the user's perception and adjusts to its needs.
