PlayStation Portal unveiled!

Previously coined as Project Q, now Sony replaces it as PlayStation Portal. As a disclaimer, It won't be a standalone portable console like the PSP or Vita. Instead, it will only rely on WiFi connectivity and the Remote Play app to stream games directly from your PS5.

Yes PS5 and fast internet are crucial here otherwise it will just be an ordinary tablet with controllers. Unfortunately, Sony never mentioned 5G or 4G connectivity here which means you'll have to rely on your phone's hotspot when on the go or just simply connect to the nearest WiFi station available.

It's also evident that it features "ala Joycon style" but with DualSense gamepad functionality and design on the sides. Similarly, it comes with the iconic adaptive trigger experience for more detailed feedback when gaming.

As for the display, it uses an 8-inch LCD (IPS) touchscreen with 1080p resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. As you can see it is clearly larger than most handheld these days with 6 to 7-inch panels only.

Other features noted are the 3.5mm headphone jack for your headphones and the USB-C port so you can charge while playing.

Finally, if you're not using it for gaming, it can work for viewing media and YouTube and such.

US price with direct-to-PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

PlayStation Portal - USD 200 (around PHP 11.3K)

Only the price has been disclosed for now. Sony says they will provide more details soon for availability depending on the region. No word yet for the PH release so stay tuned.

What do you guys think?
