GCash empowering micro-merchants in PH

The company announced this in a statement Wednesday, where it also noted that micro-merchants would now enjoy an increased wallet limit of up to PHP 500,000 per month. In addition, the 1.5 percent transaction fee is waived up to PHP 100,000 in gross sales.

Ren-Ren Reyes, the president and CEO of G-Xchange, the mobile wallet operator of GCash, said this development would allow sellers to earn more for their families.

We are committed to working with our micro-entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals in the digital economy, he said.

Reyes also said that GCash supports the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' target of accelerating micro-merchants shift to the digital economy.

Together with our partners, we will equip micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with the right tools and products so they can grow their businesses safely and conveniently, the GCash official said.

GCash said it has been providing digital financial solutions to about 845,000 small-scale community merchants.
