Local telco giant Smart Communications, Inc. has just launched an exclusive version of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called Shinys.
It's the company's way of giving a piece of sports history this upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. To recap, Smart is one of the global partners of the said major sporting event.
The NFTs will be up for grabs at the tournament venues. There will be an NFT raffle as well featuring the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 mascot, JIP.
Each minted Shiny also instantly entitles subscribers to a raffle entry for the FIBA World Cup 2023 Final Pass and Gilas Art Prints by Mike Swift, aka Mr. Pinoy Hoops, a renowned artist and basketball advocate who made headlines worldwide in 2020 for his massive art tribute to Kobe and Gianna Bryant at the Tenement Court in Taguig City.
Other items that are up for grabs are the Smart and Gilas Shirts as well as the limited-edition Gilas-themed Smart Prepaid load cards.
There is a total of 8 unique Shinys that are up for grabs. Smart subscribers may get one FREE Gilas Shiny per day at Smart Booths at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Aug. 25; Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City and the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City from Aug. 25 to Sept.1.
Subscribers must connect to a Smart mobile internet scan the QR code and fill out the form on the YEY Platform powered by BlockchainSpace Asia.
Smart subscribers shall receive their unique Shiny for the day upon successful registration.
The company said that each QR code is valid for the respective day only. Users may complete the 8 Shinys by heading to the venues during the promo days.
