Tara app announced: a new Grab alternative w/ cheaper rates and subscription plans!
The Tara app

A ride-hailing app for the masses?

Its founder, Erwin Dee claimed he had some background in programming and has posted to Facebook about his goal of bringing nearly similar fare when still Uber exists in the Philippines.

The Tara app hopes to fill the gap by making its fare reasonable for its users: the riders and drivers.

Erwin Dee mentioned that Tara's booking prices are affordable and in compliance with LTFRB's fare matrix with strictly no surcharges. He even said that users will be able to save up to PHP 300, particularly during rush hours or long-distance travel. A viable amount these days amidst the rising prices of commodities.

Furthermore, the founder shares he wants to allocate 80 percent of the app's ad income to user incentives such as promo coupons and bonuses for drivers who do a great job.

Erwin Dee also elaborated on how this app will work. A 4-seater car will have a base of PHP 45 then the succeeding per kilometer will be PHP 15. The bigger 6-seater will have a PHP 55 base price + PHP 18 for the next kilometers. Moreover, these rates will also include PHP 2 per minute. To simplify, this is like having a close rate to "true and fair taxi rates".

He says that Tara will have a subscription as well for further value for money. It starts with the Basic plan with PHP 30. Subscribers will receive 3 tokens for the said amount letting them complete 3 bookings and experience the platform's convenience.

The next one would be called the regular PHP 300 plan, which is intended for frequent users granting them access to 30 tokens equivalent to 30 bookings.

The last subscription is called "Partner" which amounts to PHP 3,000 with 300 completed bookings. This plan is for those who want to use the platform for longer terms and wants to save more money especially when they intend to use it on a daily basis with more than two bookings per day.

Tara developer noted that the subscription base will be the lifeline of its operational ecosystem to effectively cover the costs brought by running and maintaining the platform.

Finally, the Tara app will be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store soon as per the devs.
