The partnership between tech giants

Aside from promoting industry intelligence in the country, HUAWEI said in a statement that the memorandum of understanding also “signifies the parties' intent to further strengthen cooperation in the enterprise optical network field on the basis of further exploring successful areas of collaboration in-home broadband services.”

The partnership between the two companies was signed during the HUAWEI Connect 2023, its annual major industry gathering of technology experts and key decision-makers.

This MOU will be backed by Converge's extensive fiber network and experience in providing high-speed connectivity services, as well as HUAWEI’s diversified products enabling seamless digital services for businesses.

We share the same vision on the advantages of network technologies and the direction in which they should evolve, said Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO of Converge. We will work with HUAWEI to leverage the advanced optical network technologies and solutions to enable the digital transformation of the Philippine industry, achieve rapid business growth in the enterprise market, and seek new growth areas for the company.

Richard Jin, president of HUAWEI’s Optical Business Product Line, said “The cooperation between Huawei and Converge in the airport field lays out a blueprint for further successful cooperation in the enterprise network market.

He said HUAWEI will continue to invest to help Converge get into different industries, boost opportunities for growth, and ultimately help the Philippines' digital economy.

Converge is a technology solutions provider in the Philippines, with an emphasis on fiber broadband technology. It focuses on building ultra-broadband and secured fiber networks, as well as operating fixed network and fixed wireless broadband services.

It has worked with HUAWEI since 2014 in areas such as home broadband, enterprise leased lines, bandwidth leasing, and data center hosting. With the launch of its all-optical strategy back in 2017, Converge's home broadband service has developed rapidly. By the end of 2022, Converge's existing Fiber To The Home (FTTH) users had reached 1.9 million.

With the wide application of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, big data, and IoT, campus applications like enterprise offices, education, and healthcare are rapidly increasing, posing higher requirements on campus network bandwidth, latency, and reliability.

Converge in November 2022 announced its plans to team up with technology partners to provide cutting-edge Wi-Fi services throughout various airports in the Philippines.
