We got to try the new DITO Mobile Postpaid FLEXPlans and in this article, we share our experience with the DITO SIM as our daily driver.

The third telco brings Postpaid service!

The setup

You will receive a SIM card. Once placed inside the phone, it will detect it. You will then have to go to the Google Play store to download the DITO App. Once installed, open the app. You will be prompted to fill up forms with your personal information apart from the national requirement to register your SIM card.

Once you've registered for a DITO account and have registered the SIM card, you will have access to the call, text, and data services. This will be reflected in the DITO App where you can also edit and update your information.

The experience

We used the DITO 5G postpaid SIM as our daily driver. This means we use it as our main phone which we use for calls, text, web surfing, music/video streaming, navigation, and more.

We even brought it to several high-traffic areas like Cubao and the business districts of Ortigas and Makati.

Near Legazpi Park, we found a neighborhood coffee shop where we got a speed test result of 437 Mbps for downloads and 41.8 Mbps for uploads.

Inside the malls like the Podium and SM Megamall, we got 685 to 707 Mbps for downloads and 76.9 to 65.7 Mbps for uploads.

While in Cubao, we were getting 87.9 Mbps for downloads and 1.36 Mbps for uploads.

The speed and quality of the connection will still depend on the user's location relative to the DITO's 5G infrastructure.

In most of the areas we visited around the metro, DITO’s network is mostly available and that's very impressive considering DITO is still new in the business.

We also tethered other devices to our DITO-equipped smartphone. Above is the speed test on our laptop. Surprisingly, the download and upload speeds are near each other.

We were able to experience near lag-free high-bit rate music or 4K video streaming as long as were in a location where the 5G indicator appears alongside the signal bars on the top right corner of the phone.

What impressed us is that we were tethered to 2 more devices and we were still getting decent speeds from the DITO-equipped smartphone and with the 2 other devices. Albeit with some loss of download speed to the tethered devices.

We were also impressed by the stability of the connection as long as we were in an area with proper infrastructure as we got a consistent speed result while speed testing in EDSA while in a moving car.

By the way, we would like to note that DITO's FLEXPlan has doubled to triple the data allocation compared to the competition.

For example, FLEXPlan 588 is equipped with 16GB data per month with UNLI All-Net calls and text, and 12 months Prime Video Subscription. Meanwhile, the competition only offers 5 to 6GB of monthly data with some freebies.

Quick thoughts

So far, we are happy with DITO Mobile Postpaid FLEXPlan as we were getting fast speeds that you don’t normally get consistently with other networks.

We think that it is ideal for work, school, and multimedia, and could be used even for mobile gaming with minimal noticeable lag based on our experience.

Just note that the overall experience will still depend on the type of device you have and if DITO’s infra is available in your area.

Overall, we recommend trying it if you are on a tight budget but in need of a fast, affordable, and reliable mobile internet connection At a starting price of just PHP 588, it is one of the most affordable postpaid plans available in the market.

And that is it, what do you guys think? Do you agree with us?

See you in the next one.
