Converge completes the free public WiFi deployment at NAIA terminals!

According to the company, this a component of Converge's Free Pure Fiber WiFi project which they have been working together with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and a number of airport operators to provide free connectivity to all terminals of 9 domestic and international airports throughout the country.

With the fiber connection now established in Terminals 1 and 2, Converge has completed the fiber-powering of NAIA and will be available for use of the four terminals whose combined traffic was estimated at 45 million passengers in 2023. We’re privileged to give reliable and seamless connectivity to the country’s busiest transit hub. There will be several more in the offing for our free public wifi, said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy.

The same applies for Terminals 3 and 4, where users can log on to the Converge network under the SSIDs ConvergeFreeWifi_NAIAT1_5G or ConvergeFreeWifi_NAIAT1_24G for Terminal 1 and ConvergeFreeWifi_NAIAT2_5G or ConvergeFreeWifi_NAIAT2_2.4G for Terminal 2 to enjoy fiber-fast internet for two hours.

Additionally, Converge users who have a GoFiber account can access the internet for free for an extra six hours on five devices by entering their GoFiber account number on the login page. After registering an account, prepaid fiber internet customers under the Surf2Sawa brand may additionally make use of an additional six hours of free wifi for two devices.

Terminals 1 and 2 have a total size of 148,000 square meters and include gates, stores, lounges, offices, and medical facilities. Converge has activated approximately 105 access points across the two terminals.

To further assist travelers, particularly during peak season, Converge also said they have extended free connection to the newly opened OFW Lounge in NAIA Terminal 1 which is running 24/7 and is free of charge for all OFWs going out of the country.

Yesterday, April 18, MIAA, the Department of Transportation, and the Pasay municipal government joined Converge to celebrate the powering up of Terminals 1 and 2.

We are glad to now have this service in Terminals 1 and 2, we now have free wifi in all terminals in Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Connectivity is really important for passengers, now that it’s considered a necessity, said Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista, during the ceremony.

Free connectivity will soon be extended to include additional domestic and international airports, such as Francisco Bangoy International Airport, Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Bacolod-Silay Airport, Iloilo International Airport, Laoag International Airport, Pagadian Airport, Tacloban Airport, and Zamboanga International Airport.
