The Japanese can download anything instantly with their ultrafast internet speed.

How fast is Japan's internet speed record?

According to recent reports, Japan recorded an internet speed of 402,000,000 Mbps or 402 TB/s.

In comparison, Ookla's latest data from May 2024 says that the average Median Global Performance of Fixed Broadband is 93.67 Mbps of download and 46.50 Mbps of upload.

In the Philippines, the Fixed Broadband download speed is 94.50 Mbps with an upload speed of 94.19 Mbps.

In Japan, the average Fixed Broadband internet speed is 190.44 Mbps or 98.81 Mbps.

Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) achieved this with commercially available optical fibers and signal amplifiers. Authorities also employed transmission bands to reach a total signal bandwidth of 37.6 THz

Citing video game news website PCGame, the report said this is over 100,000 times more bandwidth than WiFi 7 can provide. Tech firm Intel says WiFi 7 is the standard.

If true, it could theoretically download Baldur's Gate 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the entire Fallout 4 collection in less than a tenth of a second.

Japan's latest record is 25 percent more than 2023's internet speed. A 2023 Inquirer Tech article discussed that the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology achieved 22.9 petabits per second.

Unfortunately, PCGamer said we cannot hook our computer or mobile device to Japan’s internet connection due to restrictions.
