realme on schedule today officially launched the realme 12 4G in the Philippines.

A new camera-centric budget phone arrives

The realme 12 4G is the company's newest camera-centric smartphone with stylish looks, fast charging capabilities, and several premium features at an entry-mid price point.

To recap, the phone features a watch-inspired design featuring a large circular camera hump at the back and a super-slim 7.92mm frame at just 187 grams light.

6.67-inch AMOLED 120Hz screen

The display is a 0.68mm Secondary Tempered High Strength Glass protected 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen with Rainwater Smart Touch with 96 percent accuracy, up to 2,000 nits peak brightness, an In-Display fingerprint reader with a heart rate monitor, and a top-center punch-hole for the selfie camera.

The downside is the chipset, the handset is only using the 6nm Snapdragon 685 octa-core processor with an Adreno 610 GPU. While this chip is still new (launched just in March 2023) and is good enough for most of the basic and social media tasks, it is probably one of the weaker SoCs at this price point.

Thankfully, the phone has ample 8GB LPDRR4X RAM w/ up to 8GB Dynamic RAM Expansion (total of 16GB RAM), 256GB internal storage, and a 5,000mAh battery capacity with USB-C 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging.

realme claims that it can last up to 15.12 hours of YouTube streaming and up to 7.22 hours of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang gaming.

This also has a Stainless Steel Vapor Chamber Cooling System (4392.56mm2 size) to help the heat dissipate and maintain optimal performance most of the time.

The phone also has a 50MP f/1.88 Sony LYT600 main sensor with PDAF focus and OIS paired with a 2MP f/2.4 mono sensor. This is one of the few with optical image stabilization for less blurry shots and minimized shakes. It is a 16MP selfie camera with Air Gestures for hands-free operation.

Moreover, the handset also stereo speaker setup with Hi-Res Audio that is best to use on a Hi-Res certified headphone, dual-band WiFi, GPS, and dual SIM slots.

By default, the phone runs with Android 14 OS with realme UI 5.0 skin on top.
