The Chinese tech giant has secured the top spot in the global wearable tech market for the second quarter of 2024, according to the latest data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker.
During the period, HUAWEI recorded 8.9 million units in shipments and a 20.3 percent market share. These improved from 6.3 million units shipments and 14.2 percent market share in Q2 of 2023.
Overall, HUAWEI recorded a 42.1 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth rate.
The company said its launch of wearable devices boosted its performance in the first half of 2023, with a 55.1 percent YoY increase in shipments. HUAWEI said it has achieved significant growth in regions such as the Middle East and Africa, Latin America, and Central and Eastern Europe.
HUAWEI's recent success in the wearable market was attributed to the launch of the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 3 and HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 Series. These devices feature innovative features and advanced health-tracking capabilities.
The HUAWEI WATCH FIT 3 is ideal for those seeking a modern smartwatch with excellent battery life, while the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 Series appeals to those who prefer a more classic design.
HUAWEI is set to launch new wearable devices on September 19. One of the devices to be unveiled is the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series which is expected to feature the new HUAWEI TruSense System.
