TECNO Pop 9 5G launched: Dimensity 6300, IP54 rating, 48MP Sony IMX582

TECNO announces the Pop 9 5G, a budget phone directly aimed at students.

A new affordable 5G contender

It features stylish designs available in Azure Sky, Aurora Cloud, and Midnight Shadow. Meanwhile, there appears to be a Minions-themed design case for the phone as well.

The phone's design

In front, the phone sports a 6.6-inch LCD (IPS) HD+ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Inside, it is powered by the 2.4GHz 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 8-core chip with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage.

It also has a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and support for USB-C.

The features

For cameras, the sports 48MP Sony IMX582 + AI sensor and 8MP selfie camera

Other features noted are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, a 3.5mm audio jack, IP54 dust, and splash resistance.

For connectivity, it has 5G, 4G LTE, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC and dual SIM.

For OS, the phone runs on Android 14 with HiOS 14.5 skin on top.

India price with direct to PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

TECNO Pop 9 5G 64GB - INR 9,499 (around PHP 6.3K)

TECNO Pop 8 5G 128GB - INR 9,999 (around PHP 6.7K)

Currently, the phone is only available in India. There's no word yet if TECNO will bring this here. We will update you once we hear from the company.
