As the official launch date approaches, HUAWEI sheds more light on the camera technology of its upcoming Mate 70 Series.
The latest teaser shows a pivotal camera development that could end up being one of the primary features of the upcoming series.
Having said that, the phone maker intends to use a "dedicated spectral imaging sensor" which they also named "Red Maple". The 30-second teaser video showcases the new sensor in operation, as well as a few samples that illustrate natural color rendition.
Contrary to the conventional red, green, green, and blue (RGGB) color sensors or the red, yellow, yellow, and blue (RYYB) found in previous HUAWEI phones, spectral imaging modules are capable of capturing a broader spectrum of color data. This results in enhanced color accuracy, more natural skin tones, and improved shadow detail preservation.
The short clip also includes a few samples from the Mate 70 Pro+ and its Ultra Chroma XMAGE camera system, which displays brilliant colors and well-preserved highlights.
