Build Quality/Design
|
Rear design |
At first glance, the phone looks absolutely stunning of how the light glimmers as it reflects off the metal and glass parts.
Solid yet fairly lightweight
The back has a frosted glass finish with the OPPO branding being unfrosted while in front is a nearly flat glass panel with slight curves on the edges. In between is a metal frame with a brushed finish.
Upon holding the phone, you immediately notice how jewelry like the craftsmanship is with the new X8 series. It is a step above the previous generation and is on the level of significantly more expensive flagships from competitors.
|
Stunning screen with symmetrical bezels |
Once you turn it on, you immediately notice how large the screen is compared to the bezel. What is even more impressive is the symmetrical bezels around the panel.
The screen is bright with vibrant colors and crisp text. The touch screen is responsive and accurate with taps and gestures.
|
Top and bottom |
On top are two microphones, two antenna lines, an IR blaster, and the top firing speaker. At the bottom are more antenna lines, the SIM tray, two antenna lines, two microphones, and the bottom-firing speaker.
The SIM tray accommodates up to two nano SIM cards and has a rubber gasket.
|
Left and right sides |
On the left are more antenna lines and an alert slider while on the left are more antenna lines, a metal volume rocker, and a metal power button. The buttons and alert slider are made of metal and have decent resistance to them and have satisfying feedback when pressed or slided.
|
four Hasselblad cameras |
At the back is the massive circular quad-camera array made alongside Hasselblad. Written on the module are "15-73mm" and "f1.8".
Quick thoughts
Unfortunately, we have yet to confirm the official specifications of the phone nor do we know if it will have the same or similar specs as the China-only variant.
So far, we are impressed by the build and design. We are also pleased that a silicone case, a USB-A to C, and an 80W SuperVOOC charger are included in the box.
We will have to wait for the official launch on November 21, 2024, until we can have a better look at the new smartphone.
Stay tuned for the camera samples and the full review soon.
