Leica introduced the new Glossy Black Paint Finish for its M11 digital rangefinder camera and Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 reissue.
The original M11 arrived in the Philippines in early January 2022. It features a 60MP BSI CMOS Triple Resolution sensor that captures 60, 36, and 18MP images. Leica says it offers 14 stops of dynamic range and an ISO range of 64 to 50,000. It has an internal storage of 64GB and is powered by a larger battery which is rated for 700 shots with the rear display or 1,700 shots with the rangefinder only.
It originally came in either Black or Silver chrome colorways. The Black Chrome features an aluminum top plate that weighs 530 grams while the Silver Chrome has a brass top plate which weighs 640 grams.
Nearly 3 years later, Leica introduced a new colorway for the Leica M11 and the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH reissue called Glossy Black Paint.
The new M11 Glossy Black Paint features a brass top and base plates finished with glossy black paint. Leica says frequent use creates a unique patina over the years. Like the M11-P, it comes with the Leica Engraving on the top plate, a lustrous silver-chrome finish shutter release, and cross knurling on the ISO and Shutter Speed dial.
While the Glossy Black Paint Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH reissue is still made of brass. Its optical design consists of 6 elements in 4 groups and has a field of view of 45.6 degrees and a maximum aperture of f/1.2. It is 6-bit encoded and has a filter size of 49mm. It weighs 405 grams.
