Previously, the chipmaker also had a similarly named Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with a 3.0GHz max boost clock instead of 3.3GHz. This time, instead of a different clock speed, Qualcomm reduced a prime core.

To clarify, this is not the same as the previously leaked Snapdragon 8s Elite, which reportedly carries the model number SM8735.

The new SD Elite chip, listed on Qualcomm's website as SM8750-3-AB, features a hepta-core setup and is built on a 3nm process. Despite its unique configuration, it retains a 4.32GHz clock speed for its two prime cores, while the remaining five performance cores run at 3.53GHz.

According to GSMArena, these chips might be a regular 8-core processor with one core that underperformed and didn't meet performance standards. Instead of discarding them, Qualcomm disabled the underperforming core, resulting in this 7-core variant.

The chip also includes an Adreno GPU, though Qualcomm has not disclosed its clock speed. Additionally, it supports LPDDR5X RAM, Quick Charge 5, X80 LTE/5G with speeds up to 10Gbps, Bluetooth 6.0, and WiFi 7 or WiFi 6/6E.

We suspect Qualcomm to sell this to mobile makers who wishes to make a more affordable version of their flagship models.

What do you guys think?
