In December 2024, we toured the testing lab and factory of Transsion Holdings, specifically for TECNO Mobile.

We visited Transsion Holding's Quality Testing Center

From there, they showcased the investments made in laboratory testing machines and demonstrated how every new model in their portfolio undergoes rigorous testing to ensure that their smartphones are high-quality before mass production.

First is the 3-in-1 roller drop test to see the dust-free performance of the phone. This machine will allow TECNO Mobile to check if dust will enter the internals of their smartphones.

To double-check, they have another machine that will spray dust all over to check the seal of their handsets for total dust ingress.

They even have a salt spray test and hand sweat test to check if their phones are protected from small amounts of salt. In case you do not know, salt is corrosive and can damage the electronic components of your phone.

Then they also have water tests from IPX5, IPX6, IPX7, up to IPX8.

What they demoed to us is probably IPX5 or IPX6, the protection against water pressure from any angle.

TECNO told us that all of their products will undergo 4 stages of waterproof tests.

So, even if the product has no mention of an IP rating for water resistance, it probably has some sort of water protection.

Next is the drop tests. They showed us a 1.2-meter strong drop of the device and the phone survived after that. The company also showcased a roller drop test of 0.5 meters (500 rounds) and other micro drop tests.

TECNO claimed that they have tested the device for micro drops up to 25,000 times.

The other durability tests that the company include a Power Button Lifespan test of up to 1,000,000 times, 20,000 times USB Plug Test, and 2,000 times Extreme Twist Test.

This was the first time we were permitted to film and photograph inside a testing facility of any smartphone brand. This likely signifies TECNO's confidence in their testing methodologies.

Note: TECNO is conducting these tests so that you don't have to. These evaluations demonstrate that their phones are of great quality and built to last. Avoid doing durability tests on your own as it might void the warranty of their products.
