New chip with minimal changes

The new chips have nearly identical details except that the 7400X model comes with dual display support meant for foldable smartphones. While the Dimensity 7400 is designed for standard devices.

Both of the chips feature 4x Cortex-A78 with up to 2.6GHz clock speed and 4x Cortex-A55 with 2GHz. It's a slight 0.1GHz speed upgrade versus the predecessors with up to 2.5GHz only.

Meanwhile, the GPU also remained the same with the Mali-G615 MC2 as well as the 6th gen APU 655 of MediaTek.

The chipmaker has also included its Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0, which is designed to balance performance and optimize battery life during gaming sessions.

MediaTek noted that these chipsets are built on TSMC’s 4nm process node, offering 14 percent to 36 percent lower power consumption during gaming compared to competing chipsets. They also include MediaTek’s NPU 6.0, with a claimed 15 percent performance improvement over the Dimensity 7300.

The chips support LPDDR5 or LPDDR4X RAM with up to 6Mbps and UFS 2.2 or 3.1 storage.

For the camera, it still has Imagiq 950 ISP with support for 12-bit HDR-ISP and up to 200MP sensors.

Finally, MediaTek's Network Observation System also known as NOS will provide accurate 5G or WiFi switching and leverage prediction in a more advanced way. Furthermore, the chip also supports 5G connectivity with 3CC carrier aggregation, WiFi6 (2.4GHz/5GHz/6GHz) and Bluetooth 5.4
