Tips laid out to boost the reach of legit content

With over 2 billion users everyday, Facebook is boosting its efforts to go after spam content and help authentic creators to reach wider audience.

To support this move, Facebook has announced its long-term initiative to make Feed more relevant and help creators break through.

This will be achieved by lowering the reach of accounts sharing spammy content, like those who post content with long, distracting captions. Accounts that engage in these tactics will only have their content shown to their followers and will not be eligible for monetization.

Spam networks often create hundreds of accounts to share the same spammy content that clutters people’s Feed. Those found to be engaging in this tactic will not be eligible for monetization and may see lower audience reach.

Facebook also intends to invest more to remove accounts that coordinate fake engagement and impersonate others. The social media giant said it will take more aggressive steps to prevent this behavior.

Comments detected as fake engagement will be seen less. Fake pages will continuously be removed with more than 100 million of such removed last year.

When it comes to enhancing discussions on the platform, Facebook is testing a comments feature so people can signal ones that are irrelevant or don't fit the spirit of the conversation.

Facebook is also working on going after accounts pretending to be legit creators. In 2024, over 23 million profiles that were impersonating large content producers were taken down.

In addition to the proactive detection and enforcements rolled out to identify and remove imposters, Facebook has added features to Moderation Assist, a comment management tool, to detect and auto-hide comments from people potentially using a fake identity. Creators will also be able to report impersonators in the comments.

The company said it is continuing to enhance Rights Manager to help creators protect their original content. It is also providing guidance to help creators making original, engaging content succeed on Facebook.

To also help creators expand their reach, Facebook encourages them to post quality original content with consistency, focus on authentic and engaging content, and keep their captions and hashtags relevant to the content.

What do you think guys?
