EDSA rehab suspended

The rehab was supposed to begin on June 13, but Marcos said that the project needs to be studied for one month to determine if there are new technologies that could be used to make the rehabilitation of the major national road in Metro Manila quicker.

The President said that when we look at the cost-benefit analysis, it would be good if we could fix it, but the two-year sacrifice is too great.

He added that the government should make a good plan about it.

To recap, DOTr (The Department of Transportation) said heavy traffic is expected once the EDSA rehabilitation begins, and it is expected to last until 2027.

The Department of Transportation earlier said. It was expected to last until 2027 with a budget of approximately PHP 8.7 billion.

The rehabilitation is expected to address the 23.8-kilometer road's deteriorating condition and improve traffic flow. It also aims to make the highway safer for pedestrians and commuters.

Reports said that it is set to be done lane by lane, with additional repairs on pedestrian lanes and drainage systems.
