Toll-free Skyway, more EDSA buses

A new coding scheme will be implemented along EDSA starting June 16 in preparation for the rehabilitation of the highway.

According to reports, the odd-even scheme, which will have a dry run, will prohibit vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 on EDSA on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Meanwhile, those with numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 will be prohibited on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Sunday is free for all.

Note that Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) like Grab are exempted from the odd-even scheme.

MMDA expects a 40 percent reduction in vehicles along EDSA due to this new policy.

As another solution to the impact of the EDSA rehabilitation, portions of the Skyway Stage 3, an alternate route, will be toll-free in July.

The government also eyes deploying more buses to the EDSA busway and more trains to the MRT-3.

EDSA repairs are expected to commence on June 13 and are expected to be completed in 2027.

What do you think, guys?
