Apple iPad Pro M5 now official: Nano-Texture Glass, up to 2TB/16GB memory, N1 network chip, starts at PHP 72,990

Apple introduced the new M5 iPad Pro in 11-inch and 13-inch models, while retaining its slim body, weight, battery, and Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR displays.

M5 takes center stage!

The new M5 iPad Pro features the same ultra-thin body as the previous generation, with a depth of 5.3mm (11-inch)/ 5.1mm (13-inch) and weighing 444 grams (11-inch)/579 grams (13-inch).

M5 iPad Pro's Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR

Apple's Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR carries over with its 1,600 nits HDR peak brightness, 10-120Hz ProMotion, P3-color, True Tone, and Nano-Texture option. 

Around the tablet are the four-speaker system and the four-microphone array that is advertised to offer studio-quality audio capture.

At the back is the 12MP f/1.8 Wide camera with 4K ProRes at 30fps video recording and 5x zoom. In front is the Landscape 12MP TrueDepth front camera.

The major upgrade is the new M5 chip that refines the M4's architecture for superior AI and multitasking. It comes in either the 9-core, 12GB Unified Memory (256GB/512GB models) or 10-core, 16GB Unified Memory variants (1TB/2TB models). This Unified Memory has over 150GB/s memory bandwidth, a nearly 30 percent jump from the M4's 120GB/s bandwidth.

The M5's new 10-core GPU now includes Neural Accelerators in each core, and a third-generation ray-tracing engine, pushing 3D rendering up to 1.5x faster than m4 in tools like Octane X. The 16-core Neural Engine remains but gains efficiency for Apple Intelligence tasks, such as 3.5x faster AI image generation.

Alongside the new M5 is the new N1 networking chip, which enables WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Cellular iPad Pro models feature the C1X cellular modem, which supposedly delivers up to 50 percent faster cellular performance and up to 30 percent less energy usage than the previous generation.

Other features include Face ID, LiDAR, gyro, and a Thunderbolt/USB 4 port.

The tablet supports the Apple Pencil Pro, Apple Pencil USB-C, and the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro.
