Aputure's next-generation lights for professional filmmakers arrive in the Philippines

The Aputure STORM point-source LEDs and NOVA II panel lights feature the latest BLAIR light engines, which allow users to fine-tune whites and colors. This is advertised to deliver higher fidelity white light and more saturated colors than previous-generation LEDs. The engine also supports expanded emitters that cover more than 90 percent of the Rec.2020 gamut.

Both lines also allow for tunable color temperature from 1,8000K to 20,000K for seamless tungsten-to-twilight transitions.

Aputure is proud to say that both lines consistently yield high scores in CRI/TLCI ≥95–97, SSI (tungsten 84–90, D56 74–86), and TM-30 RF ≥95. This means that skin tones and fabrics should glow naturally on camera while reducing post-production tweaks.

Aputure STORM 400x

Both the NOVA II and STORM Series are built to be resilient and versatile for on-location use. It comes with IP65 dust and water resistance, active cooling with less than 40dB low-noise fans, and durable yokes for modifier compatibility with Bowens/ProLock and QuickClip. 

Depending on the model, these new Aputure lights are compatible with the Sidus Link Pro 2.0 app, DMX, CRMX, Art-Net/sACN, and Ethernet for network control.

Aputure STORM 700x

In the Philippines, the STORM Series includes the following models:

1. STORM 80c - 80W run and gun light at 1,924 lux that weighs 1.35kg

2. STORM 400x - 400W mid-sized lighting at 5,090 lux that weighs 3.95kg

3. STORM 700x - 700W portable daylight emulation light at 18,750 lux that weighs 5.15kg

The STORM 700x is sold either as a light only or with the Cine Kit. While the NOVA II 2x1 is a 1,000W light at 163,900 lux in a 16.25kg frame with a 35-degree beam that is constant even when diffused.  It promises 90+ percent Rec.2020 coverage and is cooled with a silent mode.
