HUAWEI unveils Mate X7, features IP59 rating and Kirin 9030 Pro chipset and starts at around PHP 108K in China

The new foldable device is even lighter and more compact than its predecessor.

HUAWEI has introduced its latest foldable, the Mate X7.

The new device from the Chinese tech giant is even slimmer than its predecessor, the HUAWEI Mate X6. The latest foldable is 9.5mm when folded, and 4.5mm unfolded, and weighs 235 grams while retaining an aluminum frame.

It comes in Black, White, Purple, and Red colors.

Mate X7 also has larger displays with a 6.49-inch cover screen and an 8-inch main screen. Both are LTPO OLEDs with a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate and 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.

It has IP58 and IP59 ratings, which means it's dust-protected and water-resistant against splashes and even close-range high-pressure water jets.

When it comes to photography, Mate X7 packs a 50MP main camera with an RYYB sensor, 10-stop physical variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0), and OIS. The telephoto sensor has been updated to a 50MP sensor with a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom. The third shooter on the back is a 40MP ultrawide, while selfie cameras on the cover and inner screens have 8MP.

Another highlight in the Mate X7 is its Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, similar to the newly launched Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro Max.

This new chipset reportedly features a nine-core ARMv8 architecture with a prime core clocked at 2.75GHz, 4x performance cores @ 2.27GHz, and 4x efficiency cores @ 1.72GHz. That's paired with 12/16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage.

Mate X7’s other features include a 5,600mAh battery capacity and support for USB-C 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

It also has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, and runs on HarmonyOS 6.0.
