OPPO is raising the battery standard for flagships

According to OPPO, battery life is a critical factor in smartphone reliability. While processor and camera technologies have seen significant advances, battery innovation has often progressed more incrementally.

Consumers have typically faced trade-offs between device thickness, battery capacity, and charging speed.

The newly announced OPPO Find X9 Series aims to address this with a focus on increased battery capacity and longevity.

OPPO states that through new materials and internal design optimizations, the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro models are designed to offer improved performance per charge and long-term battery health.

Increased Capacity

The 5,000mAh mark has long been a standard for large smartphone batteries. The previous Find X8 series began moving beyond that, and the new generation continues the trend.

OPPO reports that the Find X9 features a 7,025mAh battery, while the Find X9 Pro includes a 7,500mAh battery—reportedly the highest capacity yet in an OPPO flagship. This represents an increase of over 1,000mAh for each model compared to their direct predecessors.

According to OPPO, when paired with the power-efficient 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and the company's proprietary power management software, this capacity enables the devices to last up to two days with typical use.

In more demanding scenarios, such as recording 4K 60fps Dolby Vision HDR video, OPPO claims the Find X9 can record for 5 hours and 19 minutes, and the Find X9 Pro for 5 hours and 49 minutes. The company states these results significantly outpace other flagship smartphones, which typically last between 3 and 4 hours in the same test.

Battery Technology

The increased capacity is attributed to OPPO's third-generation Silicon-Carbon Battery. The company reports it has an industry-leading energy density of over 850Wh/L, enabled by a proprietary spherical silicon-carbon material.

OPPO states that the battery's design, protected by 12 patents, improves structural integrity and reduces material degradation during charging cycles. The company claims this technology allows the battery to retain over 80 percent of its original capacity after five years of typical use.

Design and Charging

Despite the larger batteries, OPPO says the phones maintain a slim profile through optimizations to the internal layout, including the camera module and motherboard. The Find X9 features a 7.99mm thickness, and the Find X9 Pro measures 8.25mm.

The series also supports USB-C 80W SUPERVOOC wired and 50W wireless AIRVOOC charging.

It is also compatible with standard USB PD and PPS chargers at up to 55W. OPPO states the devices are designed to remain functional and support stable charging in temperatures as low as -20ºC.

Both models include built-in magnets for compatibility with magnetic accessories, such as OPPO's magnetic power bank and a 50W magnetic charger.

The OPPO Find X9 Series is positioned as a device built for extended use, aiming to provide reliable battery performance across various conditions.
