MacBook Air M5 priced in PH: 13" or 15" inch displays, 512GB base storage, starts at PHP 72,990

Apart from the iPad Air M4, Apple has unveiled an updated version of its MacBook Air, now equipped with the M5 chip.

Updated with a faster M5 chip

Apple has introduced an updated MacBook Air featuring the M5 chip. The new model maintains the external design of its predecessor while incorporating upgrades to internal components.

As you can see, the laptop retains the same chassis with flat edges, a thin profile, and lightweight construction. The 13-inch model weighs 1.23 kg, and the 15-inch model weighs 1.51 kg. The two models are available in Sky Blue, Silver, Starlight, and Midnight.

There are two display sizes, such as the 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1664 and a 60Hz refresh rate. They also support True Tone, wide color P3 gamut, and 500 nits peak brightness.

The display

The device is powered by the M5 chip, offered in two configurations: one with an 8-core GPU and another with a 10-core GPU. The base model now includes 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage as standard. Storage read and write speeds are reported to be twice as fast as the previous generation.

Powering the unit is a 53.8Wh lithium polymer battery that provides up to 18 hours of streaming video playback. Charging is supported via a MagSafe 3 port.

Apple also adds a new 12MP Center Stage camera that automatically adjusts framing during video calls.

Users may customize the RAM, SSD capacity, keyboard layout, and power adapter. Ports include two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left side and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the right.

The laptop features Apple’s N1 wireless chip with support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread networking technology.

For OS, the MacBook Air M5 runs on macOS.
