Faster generation of connectivity soon

TP-Link Systems Inc. has announced the Archer 8, its first router built on the emerging IEEE 802.11bn Wi-Fi 8 specification, with a scheduled release in October 2026.

The company says the platform is designed to prioritize network reliability over peak theoretical speeds, targeting common home networking issues such as device congestion, inconsistent coverage, and latency.

The announcement was made on May 28, 2026, with the Philippines among the markets included in the launch communication.

According to TP-Link, internal lab testing comparing early WiFi 8 and WiFi 7 implementations under simulated home conditions showed the following results, which have not been independently verified:

  • Up to 33% higher throughput through enhanced modulation and coding improvements
  • Up to 24% higher throughput through unequal modulation technologies
  • Up to 15% throughput improvement in multi-access-point environments through enhanced spatial reuse coordination
  • Up to 30% signal performance improvement in multi-floor setups for single-device connections, and 10–20% in multi-device environments
  • A 1–3 dB gain in receive sensitivity on the 5GHz and 6GHz bands

TP-Link also outlined a broader Wi-Fi 8 product roadmap beyond the Archer 8:

  • Deco 8 (Wi-Fi 8 Mesh System)—Q1 2027
  • Roam 8 (Wi-Fi 8 Travel Router)—Q2 2027
  • Wi-Fi 8 Range Extenders and Adapters—Q2 2027

The Archer 8 features a minimalist design with micro ridge texturing and a front-facing light element. Specific hardware specifications, pricing, and regional availability have not been announced and are expected closer to each product's launch date.
