Fiber broadband leads the charge

The total fixed communication services revenue in the Philippines is forecast to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.7 percent.

According to GlobalData, the country's fixed communication services revenue will grow from USD 3.8 billion or around PHP 220.4 billion in 2025 to USD 4.3 billion or around PHP 249.4 billion in 2030, mainly driven by growth in the fixed broadband segment.

GlobalData's Philippines Fixed Communication Forecast (Q4 2025) reveals that fixed voice services revenue will decline at a CAGR of 7.4 percent over the 2025-30 period, in line with a decline in fixed voice average revenue per subscriber (ARPU) levels, as users increasingly adopt mobile/OTT-based communication services and as operators increasingly offer free voice minutes with their bundled plans.

Srikanth Vaidya, telecom analyst at GlobalData, also said that "fixed broadband service revenue, on the other hand, will increase at a CAGR of 4.2 percent during 2025-30, driven by growth in broadband subscriptions, especially fiber optic (FTTH/B) broadband subscriptions."

Fiber lines accounted for a majority share of 85 percent of the total fixed broadband lines in 2025, which will increase to about 91 percent by 2030, supported by the government and operator investments in fiber network infrastructure and FTTH service expansions.

PLDT will lead the fixed voice services segment in terms of subscriptions through 2030. The operator will also top the fixed broadband services market by subscriptions, supported by its strong position in DSL and FTTH service lines.

Vaidya said that the "fixed communication services market in the Philippines is poised for growth, driven by technological advancements, regulatory support, and changing consumer behavior."

As the demand for high-speed and reliable internet continues to rise, providers are likely to focus on expanding their infrastructure and enhancing service offerings to remain competitive in this evolving landscape, the expert said.
