Globe committed to ensuring network-level protection for Pinoy kids

The company echoed the Department of Education’s (DepEd) statement, seeking broader collaboration between the government and the private sector, including schools and families, to ensure the youth are protected in digital spaces.

For the telecommunications market, Globe said industry players must deploy network-level protection, online safety education, and tools that help families manage their children’s digital experience.

Social media platforms, meanwhile, should make sure to provide only age-appropriate experiences by boosting content moderation and improving parental controls.

Froilan Castelo, Globe general counsel, said the group was "ready" to extend any support to DepEd, other government agencies, schools and communities to help create a safer online environment for young Filipinos.

Everyone has a role to play. Platforms must strengthen protections for younger users, parents need effective tools and guidance, and young people need the skills to navigate digital spaces safely and responsibly, Froilan said.

Globe also continues to promote responsible technology use through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), an umbrella initiative which aims to equip students, parents, teachers and community leaders with practical skills in digital citizenship, cybersecurity, cyberbullying prevention, media and information literacy, and online safety.
