POCO M8x 5G launched: Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, 50MP main camera, and 7,900mAh battery

In India, POCO introduced the new M8x 5G, which features a massive 7,900mAh battery, 45W fast wired charging, and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Another durable, big-battery phone?

POCO expands its entry-to-mid-range lineup in India with a phone designed for battery longevity, dedicated thermal management, and extended software support.

The new phone comes in cobalt blue, black, or a green vegan-leather back variant with a gold-like camera module. It measures 170.12 x 72.43 x 8.8mm and weighs 232 grams. It is IP64 dust- and water-resistant.

In front is the 6.9-inch LCD screen with a 1,600 x 720 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

Inside is the 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 octa-core processor and Adreno 613 GPU. It is cooled by a multi-layer triple cooling system consisting of a 12,439 mm² ultra-large graphite sheet, a 1,924 mm² copper foil layer for critical component dissipation, and a 3.5W high-efficiency thermal gel between the chipset and cooling layers. Alongside are the 4GB/6GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage, microSD card expansion, and a 7,900mAh battery with 45W fast charging via USB-C and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

At the back is the 50MP f/1.8 main camera with a flicker sensor and an LED flash. In front is the 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IR sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, 5G, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, GLONASS, and Dual NanoSIM.

Running the show is Android 16-based Xiaomi HyperOS 3. POCO is committing to 4 generations of Android OS updates alongside 6 years of security updates.
