HONOR Magic9 Series with ARRI Cameras teased ahead of September 28 launch

HONOR posted images depicting its upcoming Magic9 in moss green, with the ARRI branding on its camera module ahead of its launch.

Is this the Magic we've been waiting for?

Official teaser images were recently published by HONOR's official Facebook page, giving us an early look at the upcoming Magic9's design. 

It depicts a smartphone that is clearly departing from the large circular camera module of previous generations and adopts a distinct rectangular camera island. The standout feature is a large circular lens that contains what appears to be a periscope telephoto lens, an LED flash, and the ARRI branding.

ARRI is a legendary German cinema camera manufacturer that is known as the world's premier designer and manufacturer of professional motion picture camera systems, lighting equipment, and cinematic accessories. It is best known for its ARRI ALEXA line, which is used to shoot the vast majority of Hollywood blockbusters, Oscar-winning films, and high-end television productions.

According to the official press material, the rear cameras are made up of a 200MP f/1.57 primary camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and a 200MP f/2.6 ARRI super-night telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor.

It will also be offered with an optional Photography Master Kit featuring an 88-gram 200mm thumb-sized (81mm) teleconverter extender and a 500mm teleconverter extender. Both accessories are designed to complement the phone's camera system rather than represent the native focal lengths of its built-in cameras.

Not much else was revealed from official sources.

GizmoChina reports that the Magic9 Series is composed of the Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max. Both are expected to come with the upcoming Snapdragon Elite Gen 6.
