Detachable screen for better selfies?

The Snap Screen is a 3.92-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a pixel density of 419 PPI. It's built slim, at 5.65mm thick and 68g in weight, and connects to the phone wirelessly, with a working range of up to 10 meters. A magnetic attachment lets users snap it on and off without needing cases or adapters.

vivo has built six camera modes into the accessory, covering short-video capture, audio recording, product shots for unboxing-style content, and shooting from angles where the phone's main display isn't easily visible. 

The company has also adapted the software to mirror the phone's native camera interface, so switching between modes should feel familiar to existing users.

This approach differs from the one Xiaomi has taken with its 18 Pro series, which builds the rear screen in as a fixed, factory-installed component with its own set of interactive features. vivo has instead kept the X500 series itself unchanged, offering the display as an optional, separately purchased accessory.

Which approach works better likely depends on how someone actually uses their phone. Buyers who rarely shoot selfies or vlogs with their rear camera gain little from paying for hardware built into every unit, as is the case with Xiaomi's phones. 

Those who do shoot that way may find it more practical to pay for a detachable screen only when needed, rather than have one permanently fixed to the camera module.
