No longer exclusive to flagships

The Quick Share "Share with Apple devices" option was previously limited to flagship Galaxy models. With the One UI 9.0 update, which began rolling out in October, Samsung is bringing AirDrop-compatible sharing to some Galaxy A series phones.

The feature originated with Google's cross-platform sharing efforts on Pixel devices. It later reached Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series and subsequent models such as the Galaxy S25 FE and S24 FE. No third-party app is required.

The native Quick Share app includes a toggle labeled "Share with Apple devices," which allows files to be sent and received between Android and iOS devices.

Recent reports indicate the feature is expanding. A Galaxy A57 owner reported finding the option after installing One UI 9.0, and users of last year's Galaxy A56 have reported seeing AirDrop support after the same update.

To use the feature, users open Quick Share Settings and turn on the "Share with Apple devices" switch.

Once enabled, files can be shared with iPhones, iPads, and Macs, provided the Apple device is set to receive AirDrop from everyone.

Samsung's official One UI 9.0 changelogs do not mention the expansion, though the reports on the A56 and A57 indicate it is already available.

The wider availability could encourage other Android manufacturers to adopt similar support, which may simplify file sharing between iOS and Android devices for many users. As the One UI 9.0 rollout continues, additional Galaxy A models may receive the feature. Users who find it on their devices are encouraged to share a screenshot and model details with the community to help track its spread.

By extending Quick Share's AirDrop support beyond flagship models, Samsung is making cross-platform sharing more accessible to mid-range phone users.
