FiiO A1 Announced! The Next Great Low Cost Ultraportable Amplifier?

FiiO first burst into the mainstream audiophile scene few years back when they released the FiiO E5, an ultraportable amplifier that packs great sound, features and loudness at that time. As a result, the line became very successful and they followed it up with the E6 and E06 that's good in their own right. Earlier, the now popular Chinese amp maker released the next generation of that kind called the FiiO A1.

FiiO A1 announced!

The FiiO A1, just like its grandpa in E5 features a metal frame, but in a better form factor and sexier look. It goes with a sandblasted aluminum alloyed chassis that's more durable and better to hold.

The improved A1 design

It promises high power HiFi output compared to your smartphones, has 3 bass boost options and 1 flat setting which sounds better than the regular DAC of your handset. Aside from that, you can also use the FiiO A1 to boost the sound of your laptop when listening thru your favorite headphones.

It can also be used with your laptop

The FiiO A1 also has an improved Li Pol battery that promises up to 13 hours of continuous playback.

So far the even if the company did not indicate the specific type of hardware they placed here, the spec-sheet tells that its definitely a boost over my ageing FiiO E6.

There's no word about the price yet, but if it will follow the SRP of its predecessors, it should be in the 1.2 - 1.4K Pesos range. I'm looking forward to try this one soon and I'll keep you guys posted.
