Huawei partnered with Leica once more to create its very promising 40MP f/1.8 RGB + 20MP f/1.6 monochrome + 8MP f/2.4 OIS telephoto triple camera setup.

Huawei and Leica even paired it with 4D predictive focus, AIS, 5x zoom, 4K video recording, 960 fps slow motion, and dual tone LED flash.

It's 40MP main camera setup has a 1/1.78-inch sensor size which is around 2x bigger than the 1/2.55-inch sensor size of the Galaxy S9. Despite its slower f/1.8 versus the f/1.5 aperture size of Galaxy S9, the P20 Pro can capture up to 20 percent more light.

DxOMark, the well known testers of cameras, also proclaimed the P20 Pro as the best camera phone in the world today by defeating its closest competitor with a HUGE10 point advantage.

Moreover, Huawei has an improved A.I. enhancements for the camera which can automatically identify more than 500 scenarios in 19 categories and selects photography modes and camera settings to deliver incredible, professional-looking images. It also has the new Huawei AIS which steadies handheld night shots for long exposure photography up to 6 seconds without a tripod!

For selfies, Huawei also included a 24MP f/2.0 front camera w/ A.I. face beauty and 3D portrait lighting. Compared with their previous flagship, the Mate 10 with 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera, it is a massive step-up on paper.

Very intriguing and promising right? Here's our first few photos captured by the new Huawei P20 Pro!

A game changer! For a smartphone, the triple camera setup of the Huawei P20 Pro at the back is no joke! Focus, shooting, and saving speed are crazy fast even on 40MP mode!

It also has plenty of details, colors, and impressive dynamic range even in lowlight. The 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom are also amazing. It even works well even in against the light conditions.

Bokeh effect works even without the need of using the portrait and wide aperture modes.

Shooting night shots are easy. Why? The AIS is unreal! We were able to handheld shoot 4s long exposure with proper exposure and without blurring the subject.

Even on auto mode, lowlight output is way better than any smartphone we tested yet.

The A.I. still has some inconsistencies though. There are times where the settings it'll apply will have some magical effects, but there are also times where it could make your shot look artificial.

Fortunately, you can easily turn it off in the camera settings. The camera UI is feature-rich as well. It could be confusing to use at first though.

The 24MP f/2.0 selfie camera is great too and has better portrait bokeh effect than ever. Details on the hair are amazing, but it'll automatically softed your face for a beautified effect. Some may like it and some may not. Color tone is a bit warmer than usual at times though.

Overall, the P20 Pro is a stunning photography phone for us so far!
