Premium build

1. Premium build - At its price point, the Honor 9 Lite is one of the few with REAL metal and glass material. Commonly, that type of build is found of devices found in the over PHP 15K price tag. It feels sturdy and beautiful as well.

Dual cam

2. Sexy design - To compliment its premium build for the price, Honor made the design of the 9 Lite sexy looking. Why? This handset has gorgeous curves. Moreover, the glossy glass design and tiny screen bezels made it look way more expensive than its asking price. It is simply that good.

Sharp display

3. FHD+ FullView screen - The Honor 9 Lite is also one of the few with an 18:9 screen with FHD+ 2160 x 1080 resolution for the price. Most phones at this price point only has an HD or HD+ panel.

The screen of this device also has great sharpness, good colors, and nice viewing angles. It is great for watching movies, playing games, browsing the internet, and viewing a lot of photos.

Good benchmark scores

4. Respectable overall performance - The Kirin 659 SoC is a good chipset for the price. It is fast and can do most of the basic smartphone tasks with ease. It also has ample 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable internal storage for multitasking and storing your files.

The battery capacity is 3,000mAh. It got a respectable score of around 8 hours in our test.

This handset is simply one of the better devices in terms of overall performance at this price point.

5. Feature rich quad cameras - The Honor 9 Lite has four cameras in total. It has a 13MP f/2.2 + 2MP at the back and another 13MP f/2.0 + 2MP for selfies.

As expected, it can take good photos for an affordable smartphone. But, what I really liked about it is it robust set of features.

Zoom is also great

It as a wide aperture mode and portrait mode with bokeh for that deep background blur effect. The wide aperture mode can even let you refocus or adjust the level of background blur even after taking the shot.

It has the pro photo, AR lens (cute stickers), HDR mode, panorama, light painting (tail light trails, light graffiti, silky water, star track), filter, watermark, and 10 levels of face beauty.

Lowlight, no problem

The pro photo mode will allow you to manually adjust metering, ISO (50 to 1600), shutter (1/4000 to 8s), EV (-4 to +4), focus, and white balance.

There is also an option where you can download other modes like the food mode.

Selfie with bokeh!

For selfies, it has face beauty, portrait bokeh, and screen flash.

Good software as expected

6. Good software - The Honor 9 Lite runs with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with EMUI 8.0 skin. It has few bloats, but most of them are removable.

What we really liked about it is you can choose if you want an app drawer or without an app drawer. It is also very snappy thanks to its optimization tools like the pre-installed Phone Manager app.

It also has several themes and even a health app so you can track your fitness.

7. Face unlock + finger print scanner - Other phones only has either face unlock or fingerprint scanner. The Honor 9 Lite has both of those secured unlocking features. Both the face unlock and fingerprint scanner are speedy and accurate. The face unlock won't even work if your eyes are closed. Secured right?

8. Stable connectivity - As expected, connectivity is the specialty of Honor devices. WiFi and 4G LTE signal are mostly strong and stable. GSM reception is also good. GPS works most of the time.
