It simply means that we could see an Exynos processor with the NPU (Neural Processor) on an upcoming Samsung device in the near future.
Proof of Samsung's NPU design

If they really have started working on it almost a year ago, then this NPU design to handle AI related tasks could be ready by the time Samsung will unleash the Galaxy S10 series in early 2019.

This new generation NPU could be the answer of Samsung to Huawei's Kirin 980 with Dual NPU and the Apple A12 Bionic chip.

The A12's 8-core Neural Engine is capable of 5 trillion operations per second. On the other hand, the Dual NPU of Kirin 980 can process 4500 pictures per minute.

The Samsung processor we are talking about could be the upcoming Exynos 9820 chip.

Hopefully, it will be better than the 7 nm monsters from Apple and Huawei right now.

Samsung can't afford to lag behind if they want to secure their market leadership.
