The nicer bezel-less flagship is?

Build Quality/Design - The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 has a premium notch-less design across the device. It has no camera notch or cut out. It also sports a 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. They achieved this by having the front facing camera hidden when not in use. They did this by having neodymium magnets that allows the whole display to slide down and reveal the front camera.

The OPPO Find X has a premium design with a mix of a metal frame surrounded by curved glass at the front and back. It also has a notch-less, bezel-less design. The cameras, both front and back, are hidden as well. It has a motorized "stealth 3D camera" feature that pops up when the cameras are needed.

Props for both devices since they really gave an A+ effort to get rid of the notch. We like the Mi Mix 3's approach of opting for a non-motorized solution since it lessens the need for more moving parts. The OPPO Find X assures durability for their motorized mechanism that can with stand up to 300,000 uses.

In terms of design, the absence of any camera bumps of holes on the OPPO Find X front and back give it a more streamlined look compared to Mi Mix 3 which has a slight camera bump at the back.

Display - The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has a 6.39-inch curved Super AMOLED display running at 2340 x 1080 FHD+ resolution with a pixel density of 403ppi. The OPPO Find X has a 6.4-inch curved Super AMOLED display running at the same resolution and the same pixel density.

MIX 3

This department is virtually the same. They both have Super AMOLED display running at the same resolution. The only difference they have is that the Find X has listed Corning Gorilla Glass protection while the Mi Mix 3 did not.

Specs - Both the Mi Mix 3 and Find X sport a 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 AIE octacore processor and an Adreno 630 GPU. However, the similarities stop there.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has two RAM variants with 6GB/8GB LPDDR4x options, 128GB/256GB UFS 2.1 storage and a 3,200mAh vbattery with Quick Charge 4+ and 10W Wireless charging.

The OPPO Find X, on the other hand, has 8GB of RAM with 256GB storage and a 3,730mAh with VOOC fast charging.

In terms of variety, the Mi Mix 3 offers two variants. It does have a smaller battery but it offers both Quick Charge 4+ and 10W Wireless Charging. The Find X has 1 maxed out configuration in terms of RAM and storage as well as a large 3,730mAh battery but lacks wireless charging.

For us, it is a tie since both devices offer their own advantages that evens out the playing field.

Cameras - The Mi MIX 3 has dual camera setup at the back sporting a 12MP f/1.8 Sony IMX363 + 12MP f/2.4 Samsung S5K3M3 sensor. It features Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, AF, AI and LED flash. For selfies, it has a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor + 2MP OV02A10 sensor with AI and Super Pixel tech.

Sliding camera

The OPPO Find X has a 16MP f/2.0 Sony IMX519 + 20MP f/2.0 Sony IMX376k dual rear camera setup with PDAF, OIS, Ai Recognition, and LED flash. Up front, it has a 25MP f/2.0 Sony IMX576 with 3D AI Beauty technology and AI portrait mode.

For the main cameras, the OPPO Find X has bigger sensors but Mi Mix 3's camera features such as the Dual Pixel PDAF allows it to catch up with the former's cameras. But, we can give it to the Find X here.

For selfies, we like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3's dual camera setup. Having a dedicated sensor for depth is a big plus coupled with AI assistance.

Other features - The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 features include NFC, OTG, dual band WiFi, fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C, wireless charging and 4G LTE. OPPO Find X offers 3D face unlock, tri-band WiFi, USB Type-C, OTG and 4G LTE.

Again, both devices offer their own tricks. However, the inclusion of wireless charging and NFC makes the Mi Mix 3 more feature packed.

Our thoughts

This is a tough one to call. The OPPO Find X is a legit premium flagship. Most of the categories come out as either a tie or close. For PHP 49,990, it is arguably the most stylish flagship out there.

However, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 included a few more features that put it over the Find X. The inclusion of wireless charging and NFC completes the features a 2018 flagship should have.
