The Huawei Mate 20 Pro with its triple Leica cameras that is composed of a 40MP main f/1.8, an 8MP telephoto f/2.4, and a 20MP ultra-wide f/2.2 lens was released in October of 2018 but without the DxOMark score which left fans curious even months after.

Today, DxOMark has recognize the prowess of the Mate 20 Pro's cameras by giving it an industry leading score of 109 that is only shared by the Huawei P20 Pro that was released last year.
DxOMark states that: Like the Huawei P20 Pro, it delivers an outstanding still image performance, resulting in a Photo score of 114 points. At 97 points, the Mate 20 Pro's video score is just one point lower than the P20 Pro's, meaning that the latest Huawei flagship can provide top-quality photo and video results in almost any shooting situation.
The review also said that the Mate 20 Pro scored a high 114 in stills because the triple-cameras can capture images with good exposure but with a wide dynamic range while recording good highlight and shadow detail even in difficult high-contrast situations while maintaining decent control over noise levels. It is also able to render color and white balance accurately in most situations. In addition to this is the consistent and reliable but fast autofocus and high performing zoom makes the Mate 20 Pro almost unbeatable for stills.
In video, the Mate 20 Pro maintains the great exposure handling as in in stills even under frequent changing light levels. However, it fails to offer best in class dynamic range which performs very similar to the P20 Pro. DxOMark also noticed clipping in high-contrast scenes in both highlight and shadow areas.
