Vivo's new V15 Pro is a do-it-all upper mid-range device equipped with powerful cameras designed to shoot highly detailed images.

To refresh our minds, it has a versatile triple-camera setup at the back. You will see a 48MP f/1.8 primary shooter designed to captured highly detailed images and 8MP f/2.2 120-degree ultra wide-angle lens to allow you to see more.
Great portrait mode
The 3rd camera of the V15 Pro behind is a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor for close to natural looking shots with bokeh blur.

Different portrait lighting effects |
Vivo also highlights that the V15 Pro have different AI-assisted portrait light effects. It comes with the studio, stereo, loop, and rainbow lighting effects. It even has monochrome background feature that turns the blurred background to black and white.
A week ago, we tried it with our friends in the beautiful islands of Boracay. Have a look at some of our shots.

As you can see, most of the shots we took comes with plenty of details. Edge detection are mostly clean with good separation from the subject to the background. We noticed that the bokeh is not too aggressive too.
It is still not perfect and may look unnatural (for DSLR purists), but this is Vivo's best portrait mode implementation yet and it is more than decent for a phone. Only high-end camera phones will have a clear advantage over it.

Cropped image highlighting the separation of subject and the background |
We also tried the portrait mode on Stephen Curry's wax figure under a under challenging lighting condition. Notice the incredible amount of details and super clean edge detection on Steph's hair.

Ice cream with creamy bokeh |
We also tried its portrait mode on a non-human subject and it still works. Take a look at our ice cream shot above.

Monochrome background |
For selfies, the V15 Pro only has a single 32MP camera. But since it has AI, Vivo still made the portrait mode possible. Just do not it expect it to outperform the bokeh of its back cameras. But, it its portrait mode is still considered as decent for a single camera setup.

Rainbow filter |
By the way, it won't over beautify your face if will not use the face beauty mode.
Quick thoughts
Overall, we think that V15 Pro shoots more than capable portrait shots for a mid-range phone.
How about you guys? Do you agree with us?
