Despite it being in the hot seat amid the US ban, Huawei continued to prove it could lead the technology space, this time in the wearable segment.
Huawei wearable shipments grew 282 percent in Q1
The Chinese tech giant just defeated Korea's Samsung in the wearable market after posting 282 growth rate in the first three months of 2019.
According to International Data Corp., Huawei had shipped five million units of wearables in the period, almost a fourfold increase from the 1.3 million units it shipped a year earlier.
Huawei ended the quarter with market-beating growth of 282.2%. The company’s success in the wearables market has been directly tied to its success in smartphones as the two products are often bundled together.
Its rival Samsung, meanwhile, shipped 4.3 million, a 151.6-percent jump from 2018's 1.7 million.
Apple secured the top spot with 12.8 million units shipped in the first quarter, while Xiaomi came second with 6.6 million units.
Huawei and Samsung clinched the third and fourth rank, respectively. Fitbit, on the other hand, got the fifth spot with 2.9 million units shipped in the period.
