On its official website, the Trump phone is described as an "American-designed or made" smartphone. However, reports claim it is not true. |

Not American-made
An iFixit teardown recently confirmed that the
Trump T1 is just a gold-painted
HTC U24 Pro—an Android phone launched in June 2024 disguised as a "powerful smartphone focused on performance and privacy."
Basically, the core hardware is identical to the aforementioned HTC phone, with a similar 6.8-inch curved screen, the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, 12 GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

Cosmetic differences included the said Gold paint finish, slightly different speaker grille pattern, and repositioned camera flash.

Inside, the device has a different 19.35Wh (5,000mAh) battery made in the Philippines, not the 17.23Wh (4,600mAh) found on the HTC U24.
Trump T1 key specs, features
- 6.78-inch 3D curved 120Hz AMOLED screen
- Snapdragon 7 Series processor
- 512GB internal storage
- 5,000mAh battery, Type-C 30W charging
- 50MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 50MP 2x tele zoom
- 50MP selfie camera
- Fingerprint sensor, AI Face Unlock

It was suspected that most of the phone's parts were likely produced by the same Chinese factories that made HTC devices. It is marketed as assembled in the USA, but most of the parts are pre-assembled overseas.
iFixit said that the device comes with a provisional score of 3/10 in terms of repairability.
Key takeaway - The T1 was pitched as a patriotic tech product for Americans; however, this discovery contradicts its nationalist messaging.
